Physiotherapy
Avivo provides pelvic floor physiotherapy during pregnancy and postpartum.
Pelvic floor
Pelvic floor physiotherapy involves a thorough assessment and treatment of the lower back, pelvis and internal pelvic floor muscles.
Ashely Chapman, Jamie Brims and Jill Farmer from Warrior Physiotherapy lead our pelvic floor clinic.
This treatment can be beneficial during pregnancy and postpartum. Common conditions that pelvic floor physiotherapists treat during prenatal and postpartum include:  incontinence, bladder/bowel urgency, painful intercourse, lower back and pelvic floor pain, postpartum pelvic floor dysfunction, prolapse, vaginismus, vestibulodynia and diastasis recti.
Prenatal appointments can be booked at any time during pregnancy however in preparation for delivery we recommend beginning around 30 weeks. The focus of prenatal treatments are techniques and exercises to help prepare your body and pelvic floor for delivery.  Postpartum physiotherapy can be booked 6 weeks after delivery; the focus of postpartum treatment includes recovery of your pelvic floor, core and overall strength as well as a successful return to exercise.
